Server disk space for faculty and division shared drives

This document applies to the NetWare 6 Staff Novell system. (Tree name "STAFF-AU")

  • Disk space on fileservers operated by ITS can be bought for $30 per 1 GB increment. This is a once-off fee.
  • Space can only be bought in 1 GB increments.
  • Additional disk space is allocated at the faculty / division level only.

ITS allocate disk space at the faculty / division level on the USR: volumes of the file servers. Allocations and quota management below that level are the responsibility of individual IT managers.

EXAMPLE:

ITS will provide a 10 GB allocation at the directory USR:<faculty or division>. This is then split up by the local IT manager, who is responsible for allocating that between GLOBAL, HOME, SHARED directories (T: drive, all U: drives, and V: drive respectively). See below.

Disk allocation

To rent disk space, an IDN has to be processed through SAP which must contain the requesting department Cost Centre code, Fund and Account code.

Requesting Disk Space

To request disk space you will need to fill out the disk space rental request form.

Ensure that you have the following information before proceding with the request:

  • the faculty / division name
  • the space required
  • the fileserver (if known)
  • the SAP details of the IDN

A reply will be sent that details the availability or delay (if any).
