Synchronising your Nokia phone with Lotus Notes

Nokia 6120 and 6233 mobile phones purchased from Monash’s authorised supplier (Solve Communications) can be set up to give you access to your Lotus Notes calendar, to-do items and contacts.

System/software requirements

  • Nokia mobile phone with USB cable or Bluetooth capability
  • Nokia PC Suite software – supplied with phone
  • Windows PC running Lotus Notes 8.0
  • Lotus Notes username and ID file
Note: This service does not include email sending/receiving.

 

 

Installing Nokia PC Suite

  1. Insert the installation CD into your CD-ROM or DVD ROM drive. The software should run automatically.
  2. Select Nokia PC Suite from the introduction screen.

  4. Select Nokia PC Suite to begin the installation.
  5. Select English (UK) from the drop down list.
  6. Select the green tick to continue tick

  8. Select the right arrow to continue. right arrow
  9. Select I accept the terms in the license agreement and then the right arrow to continue. right arrow
  10. select destination folder for installation

  11. The Nokia PC Suite installation will default to C:\Program Files\Nokia. You can change the destination folder if required, or select the right arrow to continue. right arrow
  12. Once Nokia PC Suite has been installed, select the right arrow to set up your Nokia phone to use with the software. right arrow

Connecting your Nokia phone to your PC

  1. On the Welcome to Get Connected wizard screen, select Next.
  2. Select the connection type

  3. Select the appropriate connection type ie USB cable/Bluetooth and select Next to continue.
  4. Connect your phone to your computer via the method chosen in step 2. It may take a few minutes for the computer to recognise your phone.
  5. Connection setup complete

  6. Once your phone is connected, the Connection setup complete screen will appear. Select Finish.

Synchronising your phone with Lotus Notes

  1. Open Nokia PC Suite using the shortcut on your desktop.
  2. Select Synchronise.
  3. Synchronisation settings

  4. Select Settings.
  5. Select Lotus Notes 7.x from the dropdown list. This is different to version 8 which is installed on your computer.

  7. Select which items you want to synchronise, then select Next.
  8. Browse to the location of your Lotus ID file. This file was downloaded when you first migrated to Lotus Notes.

  10. Enter your Lotus Notes password and select OK.

  12. Your Lotus Notes settings will appear. Check to ensure these are correct.

  14. You can find your server on the left menu of your Lotus Notes Mail client, just above the Inbox.
  15. Select date range

  16. Select your desired synchronisation date range, then select Next.
  17. Select which web browser you prefer from the dropdown list, then select Next.

  19. Select Advanced.

  21. Select Synchronise periodically while the phone is connected.
  22. Select how often you would like automatic synchronisation to occur from the Period dropdown list.
  23. From the Conflict Resolution tab:
    1. Select Lotus Notes 7.x
  24. From the Direction tab:
    1. Select Update in both directions.
  25. Select Ok to save these settings.
  26. Ensure Synchronise when I click 'Finish' is selected, and select Finish.
  27. Enter your Lotus Notes password when prompted. Synchronisation will begin.

Setting up your phone to automatically synchronise

  1. From your phone's main menu:
    1. Select Settings.
    2. Select Connectivity.
    3. Select USB.
  2. From the USB menu:
    1. Set USB Mode to PC-Suite.
    2. Set Ask on Connection to No.
