Monash Calendar Frequently Asked Questions

This document will hopefully answer any questions you have about the Netscape Calendar system.

Why doesn't my Palm Pilot sync to Calendar now a new node has been added?

There are now two nodes in Calendar and the server doesn't know which node you exist on. In the "NC Setup" program on the Palm Pilot, there is a "Node:" field. Please enter your relevant node details (node10033 for calendar accounts created prior to 01/04/04 or after 11/06/08; node10034 for accounts created between these dates) and attempt a resync.

What happens if I select the wrong node in the Netscape Calendar Client?

If for some reason you selected the incorrect node for your username, you will receive an error stating "The user name supplied is not known on this server". Unfortunately the Calendar Client 'caches' your incorrect selection by adding the node value you selected to the end of the "Server Name:" string in the login prompt. Please change the appended 'node1003X' string to your correct node setting and login again.

Why do some resources and some other calendar users have a "(R)" on the end of their name?

If a resource or user exists on the alternate node to yourself, then they are regarded as being "Remote" and therefore have the "(R)" on the end of their name to acknowledge this fact.

Why can't I add a user as a designate?

Which ports does Calendar use?

Calendar uses ports 5730, 5731 and 5732.

If the Netscape Calendar Client is having difficulty contacting the server, then you may be behind a firewall blocking these ports. They will need to be opened so you can log in.
