University Information Technology Policy Committee (UNITPOL)
Objectives of UNITPOL
The University Information Technology Policy Committee (UNITPOL) will act as the body that recommends the adoption of Monash University Information Technology (IT) Policies. UNITPOL will also review other University policies that may impact upon the provision of IT within the University.
-
To oversee the development and implementation of University IT policy including:
- Reviewing proposed or draft University policies that may impact upon the provision of IT services;
- Providing advice on the formulation of draft policy documents and policy issues relating to the provision of IT services;
- Recommending draft IT policies to the Vice Chancellor's Group for adoption as University IT policies;
- Reviewing all approved University IT policies on a biennial basis.
-
UNITPOL will advise (through the Deputy Vice Chancellor Resources) the Vice-Chancellor's Group and Academic Board on major issues relating to information technology.
Membership of UNITPOL
The Committee, chaired by the Deputy Vice Chancellor Resources, is not intended to represent specific units of the University. Rather it is intended that it be composed of knowledgeable people from within the Monash community willing to contribute insights and to actively participate in high level policy development. The Committee will comprise eight to ten members with a wide understanding of the business of the University, information technology issues and University legislative and policy requirements. As well as the Deputy Vice Chancellor Resources, the other ex officio member will be the Executive Director Information Technology Services.
Establishment of Working Parties
From time to time it may be necessary to establish working parties and membership may include representatives from UNITPOL.
Regularity of Meetings
UNITPOL will meet whenever sufficient draft policy has been produced or whenever approved policy is due for review and amendment. The Deputy Vice Chancellor Resources may call meetings of UNITPOL if other proposed, or draft, University policies will have an impact on IT or IT services at Monash.
